Description
The WATERROWER was invented in 1988 by John Duke, a Yale University engineer and USA Rowing National Team candidate. His goal was to create a piece of fitness equipment that replicates the experience of rowing in a boat, bringing the sound, resistance, and physiological benefits to a wider audience. The aesthetic of the machine was also important, with the aim of it being a piece of art or furniture that would complement a residential setting.
This inspiration was taken from the sparse elegance of Shaker furniture, renowned for being beautiful, well-made objects that could be used in everyday life. WATERROWER has continued to uphold this ethos over the past 35+ years, producing what is widely regarded as the most realistic simulator of an on- water rowing experience that can be used.
Product features
The entry-level wooden-framed WaterRower, the VR3 offers a lower-cost alternative to the WaterRower Original Series. Manufactured in the USA, the VR3 features the same patented WaterFlywheel technology and dual rail seat action as other models in the WaterRower range.
Fitted with the S4 Performance Monitor as standard, the solid oak frame on the VR3 uses slimmer timber sections compared to WaterRower Original and Performance rowing machines. Designed for home use, as with all WaterRower models, the VR3 can stand on end for space-saving storage.
